Peacock Bass Fishing on the Amazon

In January of 2024, Don and I flew from Detroit to Ft. Lauderdale to Manaus on the Rio Negro, a tributary off the Amazon River in Brazil.  Our daughter, Ann, and her husband, Mark, our son, Todd, and his girlfriend, Tracy, went with us.  We had always wanted to fish for Peacock Bass and while at the SCI Convention in Nashville last year, found their booth and booked this trip.

Hunting the Big 5 with a Bow:  The Rhinoceros a.k.a “The Rhino”

How long has it been since you have even seen or heard the word “Rhinoceros?”   It seems no one calls them that anymore; I couldn’t even spell it at first. We just say “Rhino.”  The rhino is one of Africa’s Big Five and arguably the one of the most controversial of the Big 5 due to the immense poaching problem on the continent of Africa.

Mule Deer in Ole Mexico

January of 2024, directly after the SCI Convention and GSCO Convention in Nashville, I set out for Ole Mexico in search of Desert Mule Deer and one heck of an EXPERIENCE.  This hunt was a little different in the fact I was heading to a completely different location about a four hour drive north of Hermosillo, Mexico.

CALL 911: 2023 SCI Mid-MI First Responders Pheasant Hunt 

I had a call from a friend and County Sheriff deputy saying, “Doc, I hate to call you on your day off, but my back is bothering me, and I have to be back on duty tomorrow.” I replied, “Would you show up at my house if I have some kind of trouble in the middle of the night if I needed your help?”

Hunting the Javan Rusa Deer in Paradise

Mauritius is a relatively new country by the worlds standards as its roots are basically the British, French and Dutch fighting over whose it is for many years. When you roam around the country/island which doesn’t take too long minus the mountains you need to go up and over or around. The country is only 40 miles, by 40 miles big.
