Awards & Big Buck Night

On Saturday, April 13th our Mid-Michigan Chapter of SCI put on our annual awards and big buck night. Our big buck night is usually in January, but the only big storm of the year coincided with that weekend so it was combined with our awards night.

We had over 145 people in attendance at the Comfort Inn in Mt. Pleasant to celebrate the hunting achievements of many individuals. Most people participated in the corn hole and archery games set up for all to partake in.

The evening began with a social hour and hors d’oeuvres. During this time people coming for big buck night entered their antlers to be measured.

Before our wonderful dinner of salad, chicken, potatoes, vegetables and some of the richest chocolate brownie and cake to be had, Jon Zieman gave the invocation. This was followed by Autumn Gonda introducing all of our award winners. Each award winner was able to share their hunting adventures with us as the awards program proceeded.

After the annual awards night was complete Kevin Chamberlain was called up to discuss and give awards for big buck night. Every youth who brought antlers in received a medal and several individuals left with trophies after the antler measurements were calculated.
