Broomstick Bingo 2025

Broomstick Bingo Event
By: Josh Christensen

On Friday, August 1st, 2025 our chapter hosted our first “Boomstick Bingo Night” at the Great Hall in Midland.  We had over 60 people in attendance and fun was had by all.  Excitement and anticipation were in the air as the evening began.  There were multiple raffles for great prizes, including a lottery ticket board, a $300 “briefcase raffle”, a Bergara rifle, and a flat-top iron grill with a Grizzly Kenai cooler.  And all of that didn’t include the main event of what ended up being nine games of bingo, where the prizes were either a firearm, or a $300 pay out.

The night began at 5:00 with the doors opening and people mingling.  A fully stocked cash bar was on hand throughout the event.  At 6:00 we settled in for an excellent dinner of pork, roasted chicken, red potatoes, salad, and mixed vegetables.  After dinner and before bingo all the veterans and first responders in the room were recognized for their service to our country and community.

Then, the main event of bingo started.  We played four games of bingo before we had a short intermission where the president of the Sanford Lake Association explained a project they were working on to support the return of fisheries to Sanford Lake when the water returns.  He explained their plan to build fish habitat, kind of like reefs.  These reefs will be intended to help the fish population return.  We then did a 50/50 raffle to raise money for the project.  In total the raffle raised $485 for the cause and our chapter also donated $500 to support the project bring the total amount raised to $985.  This is one of the examples of conservation we try to support in our local communities through our chapter.

After the intermission, the night of bingo continued, and we even got an extra game, because one person selected the $300 prize instead of the firearm.  After the ninth game of bingo, we drew for the winners of our raffles.  The night was a huge success and fun was had by all that attended.  When it was all said and done eight firearms were won during this enjoyable event.  We hope to see everyone at this event next year.
