Lori Card – 1st Annual Larry & Joanne Witte Legacy Award Winner
Lori is the niece of Roger and the late Debra Card and a member of Mid-Michigan SCI Chapter. Lori grew up in a hunting family, but as a child wasn’t part of the “guys” hunting trips, but felt that the ladies should be able to participate in these hunting trips as well.
Lori’s Aunt Debra has been her inspiration to help empower, teach and encourage women and children to become active in and learn about the outdoors. Lori is able to do this through her organization called Wild Card Outdoor Adventures. This group focuses on getting ladies and children active in hunting and conservation by sponsoring various events such as rabbit hunts, walleye and salmon fishing events. She also works with the Ruffed Grouse Society where she organizes a ladies mentored grouse hunt every fall as well as trips to New Mexico with NWTF to help with Women in the Outdoors events. Lori is the first person to organize the Ladies Night Out event for the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation in the state of Michigan.
Through all of this Lori has battled Ulcerative Colitis and has come close to losing her battle twice in the last 5 years. This still did not stop Lori from organizing events for the ladies from her hospital bed. She has even been seen riding in a golf cart supervising hunts to ensure that everyone is having fun and learning, only to find herself in the hospital the following day.
Thankfully, after 3 life saving surgeries she is healthy again and continues her hard work and dedication to help new ladies and children experience the outdoors.
CONGRATULATIONS LORI!!!
